Lea Khouri

Lea is a Mechanical Engineer graduate from Université Saint Joseph in Lebanon and has pursued an advanced Master’s degree in International Energy Management from l’Ecole des Mines de Paris and Tsinghua University. Lea has worked as a business developer in the green hydrogen sector before joining DNV as a renewable energy analyst.

Her work is now mainly focused on pre-construction energy assessments, site selection studies and operational analysis of onshore and offshore wind farms. She is also actively contributing in market development activities across the MENA region by identifying key customers and new services to develop. Lea’s passion and dedication to her work allows her to take on challenges and to proactively help towards fighting climate change.

Hassan is a Principal Associate with experience in advising private and public institutions on their projects relating to infrastructure, Oil&Gas and Energy. He has worked with several international firms across different MENA jurisdictions including Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iraq, Egypt and Libya. He has worked closely with local authorities as well as intergovernmental organizations such as the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels and the UN.

Hassan completed an LLM in European Law at the College of Europe – Belgium. He also completed an LLM in Energy Law and Policy at the University of Dundee – UK, for which he was awarded the Chevening scholarship. He received his Bachelor of Laws (French and Lebanese law) from the ‘Filière Francophone de Droit’ of the Lebanese University.

Hassan has been admitted to the Beirut Bar Association since 2012. He is fluent in Arabic, English and French, with basic knowledge of Spanish."

Jamil Frenn

Jamil has joined the FELL in 2021 to contribute in the Lebanese Energy and Environment scheme improvement and to advance decarbonization of the energy sector in Lebanon. He studied Chemical Engineering at the Lebanese University and the French Institute of Petroleum (IFP). 

Jamil is currently working as strategy consultant at Enea Consulting (Paris); focusing on decarbonization projects for corporate and industrial stakeholders. Before joining the decarbonization world, he worked for 2 years in the oil industry at ExxonMobil, mainly in a refinery on tasks like optimizing production process conditions, improving economic yields and energy-efficiency of refining processes. He also has an engineering experience at Technip Energies where he worked on steam cracker design projects.

In his spare time, you would find him either hiking, watching a movie or discovering new cuisines!

Sara is a double doctorate holder, a Leopold ESCANDE Laureate (as best PhD 2018 - France), Researcher and Patent Holder (registered). She has been recognized as an official member with an "Inventor Title" as "Inv. Sara OBEID" by The International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA)-London 1968.

Sara is a silver-medalist winner from an “Arab League“ competition in 2007. She is a member of the scientific committee at Order of Engineers and Architects (OEA) since 2019, and is affiliated to the Federation of Arab Engineers (FAE)-Cairo since 2020. In 2021, Sara joined the Lions Clubs International.

Focusing on disseminating knowledge and awareness about Microalgae, she participated in 17 national and international congresses and has been featured on different TV programs. Sara has written many articles in international scientific journals, and newspapers like AlAhram, L’orient le jour, Annahar and Alsakafa- KSA. Moreover, she has launched a new website in the MENA region called “AlgaeRoot.com”.

Sara joined the FELL programme in 2021.

Karl Gebrael

Karl is an Electro-Mechanical Engineer by background, currently working as offshore substation manager on the Formosa 4 project – Taiwan. He has been working as project management specialist in offshore substations, HVDC converter platforms and energy mega-projects in Germany, The Netherlands, Taiwan, Algeria, China, and the UAE over the last 12 years.

Karl an enthusiast of energy transition, sustainability and social equality, delivering seminars at multiple academic and professional institutions in Europe and the Middle East, and launching environmental initiatives in the local community (mainly solar PV, waste management, and sustainable tourism).

Grace is an aspiring energy economist and holds a Masters degree in Renewable Energy: Technology and Sustainability from the University of Reading - UK and a BA in Economics from USJ - Lebanon. Her experience is focused on research and data analysis. Grace has built her experience as a Research Analyst working for Thomson Reuters in the finance department.
She has joined the FELL-18 programme since 2019, being part of the Trilemma team.

Hussein El Kotob

Hussein is an electrical engineer specializing in renewable energy systems and energy management. He is currently a senior engineer and manager at ICI-Ent, an MEP contracting company based in Beirut, Lebanon. His role at ICI-Ent has provided him with a deep understanding of all MEP systems and the integration of such systems. As a side project Hussein designed and instructed a 55-hour in-depth course on PV+Storage systems for engineers, technicians and architects. He is passionate about sustainable energy solutions, green buildings and construction, environmental policy and social equity.

An Analyst and a Certified Financial Modeler that comes from a Project Finance platform and able to demonstrate advanced financial modeling skills (Hydrogen Electrolysis, Solar, Wind, Manufacturing and etc..) with the ability to build from scratch. Acquired strong experience in Infrastructure M&A commercial negotiations, credit applications along with Public-Private Partnership advisory mandates.

Hassan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering from Saint Joseph University - Faculty of Engineering (ESIB), with over 8 years of work experience in the energy sector. He joined the FELL-18 Program to share his knowledge and contribute with subject matter experts in the assessment of energy policies for potential advancements with regard to energy security, energy equity and environmental sustainability.

Double major graduate from the American University of Beirut in Electrical & Computer Engineering and Business Administration. Masters’ candidate in Power & Energy engineering focusing on the Energy Transition, Smart Grids, Block-chains and Artificial Intelligence. Expert in Smart-Cities planning, strategist and serial business developer, with demonstrated experience on world largest construction projects, working for a sustainable tomorrow inspired by Global Energy Transition.

Reem Irany

Senior Energy Engineer-Project Manager

After starting her career as a lighting engineer, Reem believes that moving to LCEC provides her with a multifaceted experience and a greater impact in shaping Lebanon’s energy transition.

Reem is continuously involved in the implementation of rooftop and large scale RE initiatives across Lebanon, namely the 10 solar PV public bids in landmark buildings, the 180 MW solar PV farms, and the solar plus storage project. She is currently the project coordinator of the Energy Smart Mediterranean Schools Network (ESMES) targeting the optimization of energy use in public schools through innovative, monitoring-based RE and EE pilot actions.

Reem joined the Future Energy Leaders’ Programme (FEL-100) initiated by the World Energy Council in 2018 and is currently a member of the Women in Storage Mentoring Programme.

Reem holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the American University of Beirut.
