World Energy Council: Applications for Startup Energy Transition (SET) Award 2021 Are Now Open

The World Energy Council (WEC) has announced the opening of applications for the SET Award 2021. The Startup Energy Transition (SET), powered by the German Energy Agency (dena) is a global innovation platform supporting innovation in the energy transition field. SET is implemented with the conviction that a sustainable future is directly linked to innovative business models and political will. The SET Award takes place on a yearly basis and reflects the new patterns of disruptive innovation and demand-driven solutions. The WEC Lebanon Committee and the LCEC encourage all Lebanese startups with innovative ideas to apply. Deadline for applications is 31 January 2021. International Finance Corporation (IFC) Organizes “Rebuilding a Better Beirut”- 10 November 2020

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is organizing a free webinar to learn how to take the lead in helping Beirut build back better and stronger, while accelerating the city's transition onto a more low carbon path. The webinar is co-sponsored by the LCEC and will take place on Tuesday, 10 November 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Beirut time. IFC will introduce EDGE as a solution for Beirut. A green building standard, software, and international certification system, EDGE can be used as a minimum standard for reconstruction. The webinar will also feature recommendations for both public and private banks on how to launch green real estate investment programs and a demonstration of IFC's Building Resilience Index. The Building Resilience Index can be used to future-proof reconstruction against the effects of climate change and natural disasters. All are invited to attend.
